1950 Born in Basel, Switzerland, 1975 Awarded Degree in Architecture from the ETH Zurich, 1977 Assistant to Professor Dolf Schnebli, ETH Zurich, 1978 Partnership with Jacques Herzog, 1989 and since 1994 Visiting professor at Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass., USA. Since 2002.
Together with Roger Diener, Jacques Herzog and Marcel Meili, Pierre de Meuron heads "Studio Basle" an external experimental laboratory, developed to test new forms and methods of teaching. The project "Switzerland - a portrait" combines methodical wide-ranging urban development analyses with questions of the conceptional development of large, open spaces.
