Honorary doctorate for Effy Vayena
Effy Vayena, Professor for Bioethics at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology, was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Department of Public Health Policy, National School of Public Health, at the University of Western Attica in Greece.
The Department of Public Health Policy is the universal successor of the National School of Public Health, the only school of public health in Greece and amongst the oldest in Europe, established in 1929. It has historical significance for Greece, having spearheaded efforts, such as the anti-malaria campaigns, that improved public health in Greece.
The honorary doctorate was awarded for her contributions in the field of bioethics and her work at the intersection of public health ethics and health policy, particularly also for her research and leadership during the pandemic of COVID19.
