HPR – for the enjoyment of tomorrow
Based on a new restaurant concept, ETH Zurich implemented a modern and versatile food market for faculty, staff, and students in the HPR building.

The Physics dining hall was remodeled on the basis of a project developed by the public real estate managemenet. The new concept includes a “food market” where guests can choose their food at three different counters. The selection includes vegetarian dishes, a pizza and pasta station, and grilled dishes.
Catering is provide by the SV Group, which was awarded the contract after a tender throughout Switzerland.
Diverse high-quality offers
The food market offers 605 seats which students can use as WiFi workstations in the mornings and afternoons. Seating includes benches with and without backrests, high bar type stools, and tiltable chairs for relaxed sitting and back support. Table designs likewise vary and include long tables and high tables.
The long tables can be used for banquets should the occasion require it. The rooms are accentuated with an attractive lighting concept. As opposed to traditional area lighting, the focus is on creating an atmospheric setting.
The HPR building and other buildings from the period between 1960 and 1980 on the Hönggerberg campus were included in the inventory of listed buildings and gardens in August 2013.
The opening was in spring 2016.
