Academic Services
The Academic Services (AkD) perform the administrative functions required for teaching and run ETH’s educational programme processes. It is a resource for students, graduate students and faculty in all areas of studies, including academic continuing education. The Academic Services report to the Rector.
The Education Legislation team is responsible for legal aspects in the teaching context. It compiles ordinances, directives, programme regulations and agreements in close cooperation with the Rector, other units of the Rectorate and the departments and is responsible for the procedure up to the point of entry into force. In addition, the team is responsible for disciplinary cases, provides support in the legal administration and advises on legal issues in the teaching context.

The Student Administration teams assist students with administrative matters and provide them with advice during the course of their studies – from applying and registering right through to the moment at which they leave ETH Zurich.

The Doctoral Administration ensures the smooth running of the administrative side of the doctoral studies: from the application and registration to printing the doctoral degree certificate and organising the award ceremony. It is the point of contact for prospective doctoral candidates, professors, departments and institutes for all questions relating to doctoral studies.

ETH Zurich runs programmes and has bilateral agreements with partner universities both within and outside Europe to enable student exchanges. The Student Exchange Office is the point of contact for students wishing to participate in one of the programmes on offer.

The School for Continuing Education (SCE) coordinates continuing education at ETH Zurich and supports professors, institutes and departments in their continuing education activities. ETH Zurich is a leading provider of continuing education for specialists and executives with an academic background. It offers a more in-depth and interdisciplinary range of continuing-education courses in its core fields of architecture, mathematics, engineering sciences, natural sciences and economic sciences, as well at the interface between technology, law, management and social sciences.
ETH Zurich offers its lecturers, assistants, employees and students a wide range of courses in teacher training, IT, languages, management and the methodology of learning.
The School for Continuing Education offers consultancy services to educational institutions, companies and professional associations on continuing education issues and promotes cooperation between the ETH, the business world and the public at large. We compile concepts, expert opinions and market analyses and conduct evaluations and research projects.

The Teaching Operations Planning and Processes group plans the session examinations which take place twice a year. The team draws up examination timetables for students and examiners. It comprehensively manages the entire process before and during an examination session.
Further, the group is responsible for course scheduling, for the reservation of Academic Services teaching rooms and meeting rooms, and for the production and sending out of degree certificates. It also carries out general services for Academic Services such as the post, scanning and bulk production.

The Digital Academic Infrastructure team is responsible for the operation and maintenance of existing digital academic applications and processes, as well as for technical support and the associated training programs. It is also responsible for the introduction of new digital academic systems and promotes their continuous further development with the aim of creating an innovative, sustainable and future-proof infrastructure.
