Wollongong University awarded honorary doctorate to Sarah Springman
The Australian University of Wollongong has awarded an honorary doctorate to ETH Rector Sarah Springman at this year's summer diploma celebrations.
Sarah Springman, Full Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at ETH Zurich, more widely known as Rector of the University, has received an honorary doctorate in Natural Sciences from the University of Wollongong on 14 December 2018. On the occasion of its summer graduation ceremonies, the Australian university honoured her contributions to geotechnical engineering and higher education.
It highlighted her commitment to gender equality in engineering and her role as a role model. Sarah Springman has inspired many young women to pursue careers in this field, the university stated.
This is the fourth honorary doctorate for the geotechnical engineer after those of the British universities of Bath (2013) and Sheffield (2018) as well as the University of Bern (2016).
