Robert Katzschmann elected TED Fellow
Robert Katzschmann, Professor of Soft Robotics at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering, was elected TED Fellow 2022. Katzschmann was selected for developing adaptive robots comprising soft and living materials safe to use in a variety of tasks to improve quality of life.
Robert Katzschmann is working on robots that closely resemble living organisms and are able to traverse high-pressure systems as well as obstacles on the ocean floor. He was also selected for the TED Fellows Program for developing adaptive robots comprising soft and living materials safe to use in a variety of tasks, from chores to biomedicine, improving quality of life.
The TED Fellows Program provides support to a global network of 532 individuals from more than 100 countries who are collaborating across disciplines. Every year, a new cohort of fellows are selected out of thousands of applicants to join the program. The fellows have shown unusual accomplishment, exceptional courage, strength of character, and potential to create positive change in their respective fields. The 2022 Fellows will deliver a talk on the TED stage this April in Vancouver.
