Personnel management and leadership support

ETH Zurich achieves the goals of a leading international university with motivated, satisfied and highly qualified employees. HR Consulting supports the organisation and the employees with a personnel policy tailored to their needs within the framework of the legal requirements.

In the HR Consulting team, supervisors and employees find competent partners for all questions of operational personnel management. The support offered to the line includes services in recruitment, personnel retention and development. Managing employees in a complex and competitive environment demands many skills from supervisors. HR Consulting works closely with line supervisors on leadership issues and provides leadership support.


Organisational and team development

Do you want to adapt your existing organisational structures and work processes or develop new forms of teamwork? Or do you have a vision for yourself and your team and want, for example, to take the trust and already good cooperation in the team to the next level? Professors and supervisors receive support from in the area of organisational and team development.


Leadership

Are you facing a new task, leadership task or project management and would like to prepare yourself? Are you interested in new leadership methods or would you like to develop as a leader? Or are you confronted with a challenging work, leadership or project situation? 

In a confidential setting, an internal or external coach can help you to reflect on current challenges and to develop and implement effective steps to manage everyday situations in your leadership role.

How can coaching help you?

  • you are preparing for a new role as an ETH faculty member or head of staff
  • you are facing a challenging situation in your work environment, in your leadership role or in a joint research project
  • you are having difficulties making decisions related to personnel issues or research cooperation
  • you would like to talk about work/life balance balance and how to manage your various roles

The  team will be happy to support you as a professor or supervisor with these and other topics.


Lifelong Learning Hub

ETH Zurich supports the continuing education and training of its employees. Talk to your supervisor about your development goals and measures.

The Lifelong Learning Hub, or L3H for short, supports ETH employees in integrating continual learning in their daily work, strengthening their social and leaderships competencies and maximising their potential.

In the case of external continuing education, there is the possibility of Downloadpartial financing (PDF, 142 KB) through a central training fund.

The  team offers various courses on career planning for employees in scientific as well as technical-administrative functions.

Occupational social consulting

Circumstances and target group

Occupational social consulting is an independent service offered in addition to the consulting services provided by VPPL at ETH Zurich. It offers confidential and professional social counselling free of charge on workplace-​related and psychosocial issues and problems.

The social counseling service is currently not available. Employees can contact the Institute of Applied Psychology (IAP) at the ZHAW for advice. Psychological counselling for employees – Staffnet | ETH Zurich
