Project phases and timetable
In the pre-project, the initial situation was clarified and, based on this, the direction for change was defined. The main project consists of three phases.
Pre-project
From January to June 2023, the initial situation was clarified and, based on this, the direction for change was defined.
Further information on the process of developing PAKETH can be found in the menu Previous Project Phases.
Main project
Phase 1: Detailed concept
By summer 2024, the solution approaches were further elaborated and expanded into a complete concept.
On 29 August 2024, the Executive Board decided to introduce PAKETH for the 2027/28 academic year. In doing so, it takes note of the results of the consultation process and tasks the President with finalising the concept, involving the departments and university groups, and clarifying the outstanding points. Furthermore, the Executive Board is allocating financial resources, which, together with funds from the President, are intended to support the departments in implementing PAKETH and to strengthen the central organs.

Phase 2: Preparing implementation
During the three years leading to the roll out of PAKETH, the implementation will be prepared.
In a first step, the PAKETH project team will inform all PAKETH contact persons in the departments about the further procedure in September 2024. During the initial discussions with the individual departments in November and December 2024, the project team discusses the questions, challenges and opportunities of the degree programmes and presents the first services provided by the Rectorate for the implementation of PAKETH.
At the teaching retreat on 15 January 2025 in the main building of ETH Zurich, the degree programmes will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with representatives of the university groups and the Rectorate in workshops on important implementation topics. The aim is for each degree programme to draw up a project plan for the coming years in the first half of 2025 at the latest.
