Address formats

To ensure smooth communications and a consistent identity for the outside world, the defined rules must be observed for addresses on writing paper and business cards and in email signatures. Sender information can be in either German or English.

The specific elements of the sender information and their sequence are mandatory. The first element of the sender information must always be ETH Zurich – either in writing, as in the email signature and the postal address, or as a logo, as on the writing paper and business cards.

The order for the input of the sender's details must be followed. Title, first name, surname and function can be used, as required. A mobile telephone number may also be entered.

A maximum of two lines are available for the name of the organisational unit at ETH Zurich.

None of the names listed below may be used for address details:

  • “ETH Hönggerberg” or “ETH Zentrum”
  • “Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich”
    “Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich”
  • “ETHZ”
