Technical Information

For the proper use of ETHIS, you should always use a current browser version.
If pages or applications are not displayed correctly, most likely an outdated browser version is used. Please update to the latest version. If you have any questions, please contact the protected page ISG of your department.

Here you will find the most important technical information for using ETHIS. If you have any problems, please make the following settings:

Login

You can log in into ETHIS at https://ethis.ethz.ch.

Please make sure that you are connected to VPN.
Important: Use the AnyConnect VPN Client from Cisco, ETHIS is not compatible with WebVPN.

The login to ETHIS works with your ETH login. Enter your ETH-User and ETH-Password in the login mask (see picture below). If you have any problems, please contact the ITS Service Desk.

Registration

If you want to to register to ETHIS, please proceed as described under "Login". After entering the login data, another screen will appear.

If needed, you can change the language or submit a protected page support request in the top right-hand corner. Please check the data displayed and click on "Registrieren" or "register".

Please close the browser completely after registration. Once the registration process is completed, you will receive an e-mail. Afterwards you can log in into ETHIS.

Pop-up blocker

Settings --> Privacy and security --> Permissions --> Block pop-up window

If this is ticked, the following exceptions must be inserted:

ethis.ethz.ch
sap-wdp.ethz.ch
*ethz.ch

PDF

Settings --> General --> Applications

Portable Document Format (PDF): Preview in Firefox

Javascript

Settings --> Advanced --> Privacy and Security --> Website Settings --> JavaScript

Must be approved

Pop-up blocker

Settings --> Advanced --> Privacy and Security --> Website Settings --> Pop-ups and Forwardings

If this is enabled ("Blocked"), the following exceptions must be inserted under "Allow":

ethis.ethz.ch
sap-wdp.ethz.ch
*ethz.ch

If you have a problem opening or printing PDFs, then for Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader you need the following settings:

Adobe Acrobat --> Edit --> Preferences --> JavaScript

The first three fields must be linked up.
