Scientifica – Zurich Science Days

The Zurich Science Days were held for the first time in 2011 by the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich, under the title of “Scientifica”. As the most important public event held by ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich, it is intended to bring the general public closer to research at the two universities in a vivid and attractive way and to demonstrate the benefits to society.

The event focuses on researchers and lecturers, who present their areas of activity and their enthusiasm for science to visitors in an attractive and understandable way. Thanks to a strong media partnership, the event has an impact well beyond Zurich city centre.

The annual three-day event focuses on a current and relevant theme for which the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich conducts research in various disciplines. Scientifica comprises various formats designed for an interested public, as well as special activities for children. The Zurich Science Days also offer a specific programme for decision makers from politics and business.

Science and the City

The City of Zurich has been a partner of Scientifica since 2021. Together with the two universities, it organises the event series "Science and the City". In the week leading up to Scientifica, individual events will take place at various locations, involving not only ETH and UZH researchers, but also employees of service departments and industrial companies of the City of Zurich.
