Loyalty bonus

ETH Zurich thanks you for your loyalty and your hard work.

When calculating years of service, we count not only time at ETH Zurich but also employment with external pageEPFL, external pagePSI, external pageWSL, external pageEmpa und external pageEawag, the external pageFederal Administration and the external pageETH Board. Apprenticeships and internships, however, do not count. Non-consecutive years of service are added together.

Anniversaries

After 10 and 15 years of service, you can choose between

  • 11 days of paid leave
  • payment of an extra half-month’s salary
  • 5.5 days of paid leave and payment of an extra quarter of a month’s salary

Your average level of employment during the preceding five years determines your entitlement (to leave and payment).

After your 20th year of service, you can choose, every five years, between

  • 22 days of paid leave
  • payment of an extra month’s salary
  • 11 days of paid leave and payment of an extra half-month’s salary

Your average level of employment during the preceding five years determines your entitlement (to leave and payment).

After 10 years of employment at ETH Zurich, employees can choose between a loyalty bonus of time/paid vacation or extra compensation. This bonus is issued every five years. If an employee chooses paid vacation, they have to take it within five years. Otherwise it expires and cannot be paid out afterwards. Therefore we recommend that employees create a binding plan with their supervisor about how they will use their holiday credit as soon as they receive it.

If an employee chooses the payout option, the sum will be added to their next salary payment.
