Pre-ponement resp. Distance Exams of session and end-of-semester examinations

In the context of the new external page Ordinance on Course Units and Performance Assessments at the ETH Zurich (in German) the approval procedure for pre-ponements resp. distance examinations of session and end-of-semester examinations has been adjusted.

Conditions/guidelines

  • No student has a general right to prepone examinations - students need to aquire the consent of the main examiner.
  • Every single preponement has to be approved by Academic Services.
  • Without official approval, examinations taken at a date before the examination session resp. taken as distance exams will be considered as invalid and will be canceled.

Acceptable reasons

  • Only important study-specific reasons will be accepted (especially exchange, mandatory internships).
  • Every reason brought forward by a student has to be attested.

Change of examination modes (written > oral)

  • For ETH-students permissions to change the examination mode will only be granted very restrictively.
  • For Mobility-students (incoming students from other universities) an adequate oral examination time is permitted, as long as their Home-University accepts it.

Procedure

Approval/announcement

  • ETH-students have to prove, that the examination cannot be taken in the subsequent examination session. Proportionality and appropriateness will be considered as well.
  • Every decision will be communicated to the student and the main-examiners by e-mail.
