Staff units

The Office of the President provides strategic and operational services to advance ETH Zurich and the President's vision and priorities. It is comprised of teams that are responsible for coordinating and promoting activities in the areas of Foresight and Strategic Affairs, International Affairs, Global Visibility, and Alumni Engagement.

On behalf of the President of ETH Zurich, the Office for Faculty Affairs is responsible for supporting all professors with regard to their appointment to a faculty position and their subsequent term at ETH Zurich.

The Rector’s Staff is responsible for handling and supervising the Rector’s dealings.

The Office of Research supports the Vice President for Research in all activities falling within his area of responsibility.

The Office of Knowledge Transfer and Corporate Relations supports links between ETH Zurich and technology transfer partners. It assures quality in knowledge transfer and in corporate relations, and facilitates the exploitation of research results, the collaboration with industry and transfer of knowledge into society as a whole.

The Office of Infrastructure provides support for the activities of the Vice President for Infrastructure in his role as head of the administrative departments Real Estate, Facility Management, IT Services, ETH Library, Services and SSHE - Safety, Security, Health and Environment.

The Office of ETH Sustainability is the focal team for sustainability at ETH Zurich. It fosters a culture of ecological and social responsibility in ETH Zurich itself and with society.

The Legal Office is a unit of the President’s staff and comes under the authority of the Secretary General. It advises the Executive Board, the central bodies of ETH Zurich and the university departments on legal issues. The Legal Office covers a very broad range of activities, including processing and advisory assignments relating to both public and private law. Its main areas of expertise include laws relating to federal institutes of technology, federal administration law, federal personnel law, contract law, data protection law, scientific integrity, copyright law and laws on the submission of tenders.
