Termination of PUBLICA membership
Membership of the Swiss Federal Pension Fund PUBLICA ends, in principle, with the end of your contract at ETH Zurich. When leaving, you can choose one of the following three options.
The following details are required to transfer the vested benefits from PUBLICA to the new employer’s pension fund:
- Name and address of the new employer
- Name, bank details and address of the new pension fund
Enter these details on the PUBLICA form in the sections “If switching to another pension plan/switching to another employer within the same pension plan”. Please send the fully completed form to PUBLICA.
If you are not entering a new employment relationship, please open either a vested benefits account (blocked account) with a bank or a vested benefits policy with a life insurance company. PUBLICA will transfer your vested benefits to this institution.
Enter the details of the vested benefits account or policy on the PUBLICA form in the section “New pension institution/vested benefits institution”. Please send the fully completed form, together with the application to open the vested benefits account or policy, to PUBLICA.
You can apply for a cash payment if the following points apply to you. Please note the list of documents, which you will need to include with your cash payment application.
Departure to a non-EU/EFTA country
- Confirmation of deregistration from the municipality of residence
- Bank details recommended: retain your salary account
- Notarised signature of the spouse confirming approval for the cash payment
Departure to an EU/EFTA country
A complete cash payment of the pension fund assets is not possible in every case. The decisive factor is if you are required to obtain compulsory insurance in the new country. Information: external pagewww.verbindungsstelle.chcall_made (LOB Guarantee Fund).
Start of self-employment
- Current confirmation from the OASI compensation office about the existence of self-employment
- Bank details recommended: retain your salary account
- Notarised signature of the spouse
- Additional documents showing that self-employment is the main occupation
Enter these details on the PUBLICA form in the section “Cash payment” and send the fully completed form, together with the documents listed above, to PUBLICA.
