Rainer Borer

Rainer Borer studied history and German at the University of Basel. He also holds an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen.

Borer embarked on a career in journalism after finishing his first degree, working for various daily papers as well as the regional-interest radio programme Regionaljournal Basel on Swiss national radio (today's SRF). He joined the SRF business editorial team in 1997. After taking over as team head in 2003, he worked on various projects relating to organisational development and innovation, including the creation of the 24-hour news and analysis radio station SRF 4 News. Borer moved to the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) in 2011 to manage strategic communication. He joined ETH Zurich as Head of Corporate Communications on 1 October 2015.
