Bellavista also boasts architectural brilliance
The Gastro Pavilion at ETH-Campus Hönggerberg, built in 2016, is not only a gastronomic highlight. The Association of Spanish Architects awarded the transparent building as the best international project of the year.
Since the beginning of October, the Bellavista restaurant on the Hönggerberg campus of ETH Zurich has been offering excellent cuisine to lecturers, staff, students, external guests and groups. It is run by the catering company ZFV.
But that's not all: The filigree building at the northern end of Wolfgang-Pauli-Strasse, designed by Emilio Tuñón Arquitectos from Madrid together with architect Marceline Ruckstuhl from Zurich (Tuñón & Ruckstuhl Architekten), has now also convinced the top experts in Spanish architecture of its quality: The Consejo Superior de Colegios de Arquitectos de España CSCAE - the Spanish Architecture Forum - has awarded the Gastropavillon the PAEI Prize for the most outstanding Spanish work of 2017.
According to the jury, the building creates a precise and close relationship between architectural form and materiality through stylistic restraint and respectful embedding in the environment. It also captivates with its clear, simple and flexible organisation and cosy interior ambience, which combines with the panoramic view towards Affoltern.
"Premio de Arquitectura Española Internacional (PAEI)"
The International Spanish Architecture Prize was created in 1993. It is awarded every two years by the Spanish Architecture Forum, the Association of Spanish Architects. The aim of the prize is to discover and promote Spanish professionals in the fields of architecture and construction who work outside the country, and thus the international positioning of Spanish architecture. Awards are given in the categories architecture, urban planning and international projects.
