Sweet coffee creations and healthy wraps
There are now new discoveries to be found in Fusion coffee on the Hönggerberg campus: in addition to the Barista service on the new Starbucks Cafébar, you can now also have your salad prepared as a wrap at the «Greens» counter.
A caffè macchiato with hazelnut or caramel syrup, an ice-cold frappuccino white mocha vanilla or a chai tea latte: these Starbucks coffee and tea delicacies will be available on the Hönggerberg campus from today, optionally with lactose-free milk or vegan with soya milk. The coffee bears the Max Havelaar Fairtrade label.
The Compass Group caterer has been cooperating with the global brand for some time. After successfully rolling out the ‘We proudly serve’ Starbucks concept at the ZHAW in Winterthur in November, it is now bringing the range to ETH Zurich too. The Starbucks drinks at Fusion coffee in the HCI building are a franc cheaper than the normal prices in Switzerland for students, doctoral students and employees.
American snacks
The range is topped off by sandwiches, pastries and snacks prepared freshly every day by Compass Group: in addition to blueberry muffins, NY-style cheese cake or donuts, the range also includes gluten and lactose-free delicacies such as banana bread.
The Starbucks coffee creations are available at the Coffee counter, which is now open from 7.30 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. The coffee range at the Bakery counter, which is also available at Fusion coffee, will continue to exist.
Seasonal wraps
Apart from the new Cafébar, Compass Group is also rolling out a further novelty. Under the name Toss’d Salad, the guests can have their favourite ingredients put together as a wrap or as a salad creation at the «Greens» counter.
High-quality mixed and seasonal salads are available, which can be combined with vegetables, tofu, poultry, fish, meat, cheese, pulses or nuts. The range is adapted to the season. Fruit salads, soups or smoothies are also served. The «Greens» counter is open from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
Conversions and new builds are in full swing
The new food market − the former physics canteen − in the HPR building will open for the start of the 2016 spring term. Three counters with vegetarian dishes, pizza and pasta as well as grilled food will then be available. In the meantime, the temporary canteen Hexagon in the HPH building will cater to guests’ needs. As already mentioned, from next March a container for kitchen and washing-up will be installed behind the Hexagon on a temporary basis in order to simplify the complex logistics of the Hexagon operations.
The opening of the Gastro pavilion is also scheduled for the 2016 spring term. It will replace Cheminsula, the ETH lecturers’ restaurant, which was closed at the end of 2012.
