Congratulations, Sarah!

It was announced today that St Hilda's College of Oxford University has elected Sarah Springman as its future principal. Our Rector will take up her new post after retiring from ETH Zurich at the beginning of 2022.

St Hilda's is one of 38 colleges in Oxford, founded in 1893 as the last college to give women access to education. It was not until 2008 that it became a co-ed institution, which today has a good 650 students.

"It is a great honour for me," says Springman about her election, only to immediately emphasise that she will still be fully committed to ETH Zurich until she retires and moves to England: "I still want to make a difference in my last year in office, both in the Rectorate and for the entire ETH community, for example within the framework of rETHink."

At the same time, the Rector will take enough time to hand over the business to her successor. The successor will be nominated at the Professors' Conference (Gesamtprofessorenkonferenz) on 23 March and then proposed to the ETH President and the ETH Board for election.
