COVID certificate requirement in all lectures
ETH Zurich is introducing a COVID certificate requirement for the entire study process. This will allow the upcoming Autumn Semester to kick off with a full on-site presence. Details of how this new rule is to be put into practice will follow next week.
In the wake of the Federal Council’s decision on Wednesday to grant universities the authority to make course attendance of students at Bachelor’s and Master’ level contingent on the possession of a COVID certificate, the Executive Board of ETH Zurich has decided to take this step for the upcoming Autumn Semester.
To ensure that the Autumn Semester can return to full operation on 20 September, ETH Zurich is introducing a COVID certificate requirement for all events attended in person and at all levels. This will allow teaching facilities to be filled to full capacity. Lectures will be streamed wherever possible. Details of how compliance with the new requirement is to be checked are to be drawn up and put into practice on a centralised basis.
The protective measures that have been valid to date will also remain in place: face masks continue to be compulsory in teaching events and in all indoor spaces, and distancing rules must be observed wherever possible. Further details will be provided in the new “safety protocol for teaching for autumn 2021” and in the form of a new directive issued by the Rector, both of which will be published next week.
