The ETH Spirit: the new “life” magazine is out

26,500 people work and study at ETH Zurich. How does our university manage to create a sense of unity, ensuring that everyone is working together towards a common goal? We explore this question in the current issue of “life”, the ETH community magazine.

A certain sense of togetherness and pride can be found at ETH Zurich, which motivates people to give their best. But what is behind this ETH spirit and what does it add to the institution, and Switzerland as a whole? We interviewed a number of senior ETH Zurich representatives on this topic for the June edition. We also spent a day on campus listening to the voices of ETH Zurich’s staff and students.

On top of this, the issue includes an interview with Renate Schubert, the ETH President’s Delegate for Equal Opportunities. In the interview she discusses gender stereotypes at ETH Zurich and how best to deal with these to ensure they do not negatively influence our behaviour.

We also present a selection of ETH Zurich’s 22 collections and archives, take a look at the English writing courses on offer – which are carefully tailored to suit specific course content, and introduce doctoral student Anton Bauhofer, who has made it to the final of the SRF show “Die grössten Schweizer Talente” (Switzerland’s Got Talent) with his diabolo performance.
