Linking your SWITCH edu-ID with your ETH Zurich user account

Members of ETH Zurich can benefit by linking their SWITCH edu-ID with their ETH Zurich user account

The switch-over to the new external page swisscovery research platform in December 2020 means that you must re-register in order to continue using the services of the ETH Library. Thank you for your understanding.
Please link your SWITCH edu-ID to your ETH user account when re-registering, this has the following advantages:

  • If your relationship with ETH Zurich changes and you move from being a student to a member of staff or if you retire for example, your ETH Zurich user account will be updated with this information. This update will then be automatically transmitted to your SWITCH edu-ID and the library system. Members of ETH Zurich thereby automatically have the correct status in the library system.
  • The link ensures that you are recognised as a member of ETH Zurich in the library system. Your affiliation determines which of the services are free for you to use. Staff members of the departements GESS, Computer Science and Mathematics additionally benefit from longer loan periods at their libraries.
  • You only have to update your details in a single location, namely your ETH user account. Any changes will then be automatically transmitted to your SWITCH edu-ID and the library system.

To create this link, please follow the instructions for members of ETH Zurich «With SWITCH edu-ID». If you don’t yet have a SWITCH edu-ID, please follow the instructions «Without SWITCH edu-ID»: www.library.ethz.ch/swisscovery-en
