Reimbursement of OASI contributions for foreign employees

Foreign nationals from countries without a social security agreement can take advantage of contribution reimbursement. The prerequisite is that the person is resident abroad, or can provide proof of their intention to move abroad.

Switzerland has a social security agreement with the following countries. Foreign nationals from countries with a social security agreement have the following options for reimbursement of OASI contributions. The prerequisite is that the contributions were paid for at least one full year:

OASI pension on reaching Swiss retirement age, also payable abroad

EU/EFTA countries
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Chile
Israel (only if the relevant person is resident in Switzerland or Israel)
Japan
Canada/Quebec*
Kosovo
Montenegro
North Macedonia*
San Marino
Serbia
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
USA

OASI reimbursement on leaving Switzerland

China*
India
South Korea

OASI pension on reaching Swiss retirement age (also payable abroad) or OASI reimbursement on leaving Switzerland

Australia*
Brazil
Philippines*
Uruguay *
Tunisia

OASI pension on reaching Swiss retirement age (also payable abroad), or transfer of contributions to social security system in Turkey (reimbursement not possible)

Turkey

*Under certain conditions, the reimbursement of the contributions in these countries are possible.

Provided the contributions were paid for at least one full year, foreign nationals from countries without a social security agreement have the following option:

Reimbursement of OASI contributions in the form of a cash payment

OASI contributions can be reimbursed on request without interest, provided the employee and their family are leaving Switzerland definitively.
