Troubleshooting & common author issues in Touch UI
This page provides answers to the common questions asked by authors for the Touch UI interface for AEM.
For known technical issues and author errors, see the Known issues page.
What is the best way to add images to component dialogues?
- Save the path to your asset folder (from /content/....) and paste it in the search field of the left side panel and hit enter. Your images will appear below in the side panel and you can drag and drop them into components. With this method, you might need to keep pasting the path for every page refresh.
- Click on the image dialogue field and navigate to your folder.
- Click on the image dialogue field and add the specific filename of an asset you wish to use in the search field at the top of the navigation overlay. Then, select the desired image and confirm to add the image to the image field of the component.
- Add the specific filename of an asset you wish to use in the Side panel search and drag and drop the displayed asset into the component image field.
Why is there strange formatting after pasting content from another source?
This can happen and authors cannot remove the formattting without deleting the component and starting again. To avoid this, use the protected page Paste from Word menu item in text editors of components. This will strip incompatible formatting and leave only that which is compatible for websites.
My bookmarks lead me to the Classic UI. How can I stay in Touch UI?
Either delete old bookmarks and resave them when in the Touch UI or you can adjust the existing ones by changing part of the URL. See Updating Bookmarks section on the AEM Timeline page.
How do I get from the Site manager to the Asset manager and vice versa?
From either the Site manager or the Asset manager, protected page click on the Adobe Experience manager logo in the top left and select the management window desired. TIP: Save bookmarks for each management window and keep each open in different browser tabs to avoid the unnecessary navigation back and forth.
How can I delete a page or asset?
The page or asset must be deactivated first (Note: unpublished status like when a new page or asset is added in the system is not the same as deactivated). Use the protected page Manage publications menu item after selecting the asset or page and Unpublish it. Then the Delete menu item will be revealed as an option when the asset or page is again selected.
