Public engagement of science: Citizen Science Knowledge Center at the Southern Danish University (SDU).

The Citizen Science Knowledge Center is hosted by the SDU Library and is striving for a shift toward open science. Learn about the strategies and thinking behind it at the 17:15 Colloquium on 24 February 2022.

Since 2021, the University Library of Southern Denmark (SDU Library) has hosted the university's Citizen Science Knowledge Center. The mission of the Knowledge Center is to achieve sustainable change towards open science and to initiate projects aimed at breaking down traditional barriers between research professionals, faculty, and other educational sectors. By initiating projects in collaboration with the public, including new and established media, the goal is to help researchers manage projects and enable them to collect data and conduct high-quality, ethical, community-based research.

The project is run in collaboration with all faculties of the university as well as the Danish Institute of Advanced Studies (DIAS), SDU Research & Innovation Organization (RIO) and Odense University Hospital (OUH).

In this 17:15 Colloquium, Thomas Kaarsted, Lotte Thing Rasmussen, Berit Alving and Mette Fentz Haastrup will not only talk about the organisation of the Citizen Science Knowledge Center, but also about how to arouse the public's interest in science, as well as about the prerequisites needed for this, using library examples.

The 17:15 Colloquium will be held in English via Zoom on Thursday, 24 February at 17.15.
