Campus Community Relations
For the further development of the Hönggerberg and Zentrum campuses, the Campus Community Relations Office maintains contact with the neighbouring districts. At the beginning of June, ETH increased the number of staff in the specialist unit in order to maintain the various channels of dialogue around the Zentrum, as is already established around the Hönggerberg campus. The Zentrum campus counts Oberstrass, Fluntern and Unterstrass among the most important neighbourhoods.
Stroking and slurping mushrooms
At the Oberstrass-Määrt on Saturday, 15 June 2024, vegan oysters made from oyster mushrooms, refined with a homemade herb mayonnaise and Beeri, will be available for tasting at the ETH stand. "One gram of protein from mushrooms has up to 200 times less CO2 emissions than one gram of animal protein from meat," emphasises Sue Tobler, who founded Tastelab together with Remo Gisi in 2016. 8-year-old Noah devoutly strokes the large, white mushroom, which is called "Lion's Mane Mushroom", while his mother savours the taste of the vegan oyster.
Mycorrhiza is not a Greek island...
...but a mushroom root that plays an important role in the symbiosis of plants and fungi in the forest. The student guide Aaron explains this and much more to the interested children and adults. They repeatedly form large clusters around the "Globi's Forest Laboratory" trolley. Under the microscope, annual rings of a tree cross-section are studied and various races are lost with ants and beetles, which are gone again faster than the microscope can be focussed.
Guided tours and information events for neighbourhoods
Guided tours and information events are held regularly to further develop community involvement around the Hönggerberg campus and the city centre. For example, the guided tour of the Gloria Cube (GLC building) on 6 June 2024 and the Oberstrass-Määrt will create additional contacts with people, institutions and associations. They open up further channels for constructive dialogue with ETH's neighbourhoods.
