Launched in 2010 by CAS, a branch of the American Chemical Society (ACS), the CAS Future Leaders program offers a highly sought-after opportunity for Ph.D. candidates and postdoctoral researchers in chemistry and related fields to learn leadership skills and build up a sound network. Each year, it receives hundreds of applications from across the globe, but only 4% of applicants are selected for this prestigious global program.
In 2025, 35 CAS Future Leaders from 12 countries have been selected to participate in the immersive, in-person program, among them Eva J. Meeus, a post-doctoral student at ETH Zurich. Eva J Meeus is currently working as an NWO Rubicon postdoctoral research fellow in the group of Prof. Bill Morandi at the Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences.
“My research is devoted to the development and application of new synthetic methods for prodrug-to-drug conversions and drug development”, Meeus explains, “being selected for the 2025 CAS Future Leaders program is a great honor, and I am grateful for this recognition. I am most excited to join my cohort of early-career scientists in the leadership program held in Columbus (USA), which will undoubtedly prepare me well for the next stage of my career. I look forward to connecting with fellow scientists and innovators at the ACS Fall meeting in Washington (USA) where I also have the opportunity to share my research with a broad and international audience!”
