Johannes Heck works at the intersection of foresight research and strategic investments to fuel ETH Zurich’s organizational development. He leads research projects regarding long-term developments relevant to ETH Zurich and translates foresight insights into strategic opportunities. By coordinating the program “Open ETH” (formerly “ETH+”), he manages a portfolio of strategic projects and initiatives to foster ETH Zurich’s capacity building, interdisciplinary working and pioneering role in our complex world.
Johannes Heck studied industrial engineering and management at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm) and the University of Cambridge. After obtaining his doctorate on “Creating Momentum and a positive long-term Impact on the Innovation Capability of Swiss SMEs” at ETH Zurich, he contributed to the establishing of a design thinking team at a Swiss machine manufacturer, and managed globally distributed software development teams for Swiss customers in industry and public services. Besides his work in ETH Zurich’s office of the president, he lectures “Agile and User-centered Innovation” in the ETH MAS “Future Transport Systems”.
