New townhall series on the importance of physical fitness for well-being

The second instalment of the new townhall series “Well-being in challenging times”, organised by the Vice President for Personnel Development and Leadership, Julia Dannath, kicked off on 29 January. This time around, the subject is physical fitness. During the virtual event, Dannath and the other participants discussed how important exercise is to our well-being.
Antimicrobial masks now available at ETH Store

The ETH Store has entered into a partnership with ETH spin-off HeiQ to offer antimicrobial masks to the ETH community. The masks are treated to provide highly effective protection against microbes and germs.

The long wait is over. The Image Archive of the ETH Library has now made its oldest films available online for research buffs. Exciting historical expeditions, experiments and much more are waiting to be explored.
ETH Zurich suspends plans to renovate the Polyterrasse

ETH Zurich will not complete a major expansion and renovation project of the canteen and multi-purpose building, which includes the Polyterrasse (“Renovation MM”). The MM building and Polyterrasse will remain in their current state and will not be expanded. However, in an initial phase, mandatory technical refurbishments will be completed.

Taking a chance in a pandemic

Brothers Gabriel (20) and Rafael Sonderegger (22), both mechanical engineering students at ETH, founded their start-up Sondia in Schaffhausen during the first wave of the pandemic last spring. They set about producing certified face masks based on the slogan: “Masks from Switzerland, for Switzerland” – a surprisingly successful experience that has taught them a great deal.
