Tips and Tricks: Getting around by car
Last year we shared some tips for getting where you need to go by bus, tram, train and bike. In this article we take a look at some other ways of getting around at ETH.
Cars for official use
Sometimes using a car is unavoidable. For longer business trips, it's possible to rent a car from Europcar, which runs a rental station on the ETH Hönggerberg campus. There is also a climate-friendly VW ID.3 e-Golf available to rent from the ETH Zentrum campus if required. This fully electric vehicle has a range of 300 kilometers. More information can be found here.
Cars for personal use
If you need to rent a car for personal use, for instance your holidays, you can enjoy reduced rates at Europcar. In order to receive the discount, you'll need to make the reservation privately using the right contract number, which can be found here.
If you just need a car for a few hours and don't need to travel long distances, you can make use of the Ubeeqo car-sharing program run by Amag and the ETH Zurich mobility and logistics team. Just book your car on the app or website – there's no need to pay subscription or sign-up fees, and you will enjoy reduced rates for ETH members.
For short-term private rentals, there's also the car-sharing provider Mobility. If you're not yet familiar with them, it's possible to test drive the service for free for a four-month period at Addresses and Personal Data. If you decide on taking out the discounted annual plan available to ETH members, you can do so directly via Mobility.
And how can you figure out which ETH vehicle best meets your needs and produces the least CO2? This page can help.
Have a safe trip!
