Summer has arrived: In these weeks, the thermometer regularly climbs to summer temperatures. That’s great if you’re on holiday. But for those of us who have to work, heat often makes the workplace very unpleasant. Here are a few tips for keeping a cool head at work even when the heat is on.

Four new PeKo members elected

The Personnel Commission has four new members: a laboratory technician from the Department of Earth Sciences, a PR and communications specialist from ID, a business developer from the Campus Services staff unit and a project controller from the Finance Department will be championing the interests of ETH Zurich staff from this June. Christopher Sauder Engeler has been confirmed for a second term as PeKo President and André Blanchard is a new PeKo Honorary Member.

At its last meetings, the Executive Board of ETH Zurich approved six social and leadership competencies, made appointments and approved both a preliminary project for the "Digital Campus" program and the proof of need for renovation work on the ETH main building.

ETH’s growth presents a number of challenges to its central administrative services and processes. Increased use of digital technologies should provide some relief. A digitalisation strategy has therefore been drawn up for the administration of ETH Zurich in the context of the rETHink project. In this interview, members of the working group explain what this strategy involves.

rETHink seems to have quieted down in recent months – but appearances can be deceiving. The project’s six workstreams have been hard at work fleshing out solutions for the future of the university. Smaller projects have already been implemented, and decisions have been made regarding the trajectory of bigger changes, says President Joël Mesot.
