Public tender for the transfer of printing services is in preparation

The objective of the call for tenders is to find printers who can continue the ETH's printing services externally from 2025. The call for tenders is expected to start in the coming months. The search for solutions is ongoing for employees of the Print Group who have not yet found a new position internally.

As announced at the beginning of January, declining demand means that the ETH's own print centre will only be operational until the end of 2024. The objective of the public call for tenders is to find suitable partners who can offer a stable solution from 2025. The call for tenders will include the current range of standard services as well as the special services plot on demand, security printing (e. g. exams, diplomas) and lettershop. In order to improve the chances of success of the call for tenders, there will not be any requirement for a mandatory takeover of the current print centre.

Reasons for tender procedure

Should it be possible to continue the printing services externally, the premises occupied by the print centre on Hönggerberg can in future be used for teaching and research again. The acquisition of several external printers as partners will also reduce the potential default risks and introduce attractive options for ETH members.

Solutions for employees

Several print centre employees have already found a new job at Campus Services and will transfer to other sections in the course of the year. Employees of the Print Group who have not yet found a solution will continue to be supported by the department and HR Consulting.
