The Paracelsus Award - named after the famous Swiss medicus and natural philosopher Philippus Theophrastus Aureolus Bombast von Hohenheim, better known as Paracelsus - is an award of the Swiss Chemical Society (SWS) for outstanding chemists of international standing. It evolved from the Paracelsus Medal, which has existed since 1940. It is awarded every two years and is endowed with 20,000 CHF and a gold medal.
This year, Antonio Togni is awarded the prize for his groundbreaking contributions to organic, inorganic, organometallic chemistry and catalysis both in industry and academia, as well as for his inspiring approaches to teaching and education.
